Produce that inspires… knowledge.
Our passion for produce and drive to share knowledge across the chain is one of our biggest differentiators at Earl’s Organics.
MORO BLOOD ORANGES
Moro Blood Oranges are now coming out of the Central San Joaquin Valley. The red flesh varies in intensity depending on the variety, location where the trees are grown and the degree of fruit maturity.
BUDDHA HAND
The unusual buddha's hand looks more like a fruit grown in an alien galaxy than on a citrus tree. No two look exactly the same and they are mesmerizing to look at. The fruit is all rind with no juice or pulp.
FINGER LIMES
Finger Limes have a fresh, tart citrus flavor. Squeezing each half forces out the delicious pearls, where they can be eaten or used in cooking or cocktails!
WILD RIVER FARM TOUR
Wild River is a 3rd generation family farm in the outskirts of Marysville, California. Founded by the Noland Family, they farm on 400 acres in the flood plain of the Yuba River and Feather Rivers, which flow from the Sierras into the Sacramento Valley. They grow Kiwis, Fuyu Persimmons, Plums and Pluots, Satsuma Mandarins.
SWEET POTATOES ARE NOT YAMS
Sweet potatoes are commonly seen labeled as yams, when in reality they are most likely sweet potatoes. Many years ago the U.S. government decided to label sweet potatoes by their color to make things easier. The creamy white flesh ones are labeled sweet potatoes and the orange fleshed ones are sometimes labeled yams. The USDA requires that sweet potatoes labeled as yams also be labeled as sweet potatoes. Chances are likely that you are buying sweet potatoes regardless of what the label says. Are you still confused?
FALL TRANSITION
It is that time of year when many California growers transition their wet veg operation, think lettuces, leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower and celery, from the cooler areas of the Central Coast and Salinas Valley down to the warmer regions in the California desert, Imperial Valley and Yuma, Arizona. Find out what that means for quality in the coming months.
CAL-ORE FAMILY FARMED ORGANIC POTATOES
Cal-Ore Produce was founded in 1976 by a small group of family farmers in the Klamath Basin. The growing region of the Klamath basin has cool nights and warm days that are perfect for growing organic potatoes.
