Produce that inspires… knowledge.
Our passion for produce and drive to share knowledge across the chain is one of our biggest differentiators at Earl’s Organics.
SWEET THAI GREEN MANGOS
A Thai sweet green mango (Mamuang Kiew Sa Wei) is one of the only varietals worldwide that is sweet when green.
EARLY CALIFORNIA HEAT WAVE
Temperatures over the past week reached over 100 degrees in many growing regions including Salinas Valley and Bakersfield. The heat affects our food production, putting not only the plants and fruit at risk but the people harvesting our food.
RHUBARB- FRUIT OR VEGETABLE?
Rhubarb is very weather dependent and needs a summer temperature of 75° or below for maximum production. Once the temperatures reach 90° or above the plant will start to wilt. The season runs from late March until the end of June.
CRESPO SUMMER MANGO MANIA
Now is the time to get excited, build displays and promote mangos! Mango Mania is at the height of consumer demand, better known as SUMMERTIME! In the heat of the summer, while orchards are most copious, MANGO MANIA frenzy ensues!
THE COVETED BLENHEIM APRICOT
Dwelley Blenheim apricots have a sweet rich flavor, low acid and a smooth texture. One of the key characteristics of the Blenheim is their green shoulders. Don’t shy away from the green tinge, as the fruit will have good flavor even if the fruit does not achieve full color.
CALIFORNIA CHERRY SEASON KICKS OFF
California Stone Fruit season kicks off with sublime Coral Cherries from Fruit World! Corals have glossy firm dark flesh and a very sweet flavor that is similar to Bings.
ONION SEASONALITY
Onions are available year-round, but they are a seasonal item! In order to have onions to enjoy throughout the year, product must be sourced from a variety of regions and stages in the vegetable's life cycle.
ENGLISH AND SNAP PEAS
Nothing says spring like fresh English and Sugar Snap Peas. English Peas are also called Pod Peas, Garden Peas or Shelling Peas. Earl’s California English Peas, the large Mr. Big variety, and Sugar Snap Peas are coming from Tutti Frutti in Santa Barbara County.
MARKET DISRUPTIONS
Historically December and January see disruptions in organic markets due to various factors such as frosts, winter storms, less daylight hours and holidays.
