COVILLI FAIR TRADE SINCE 2015
Covilli became Fair Trade Certified in December 2015. They are the first and only 100% Organic and 100% Fair Trade company in North America. Since December 2015 Covilli has sold over 29 million pounds of Fair Trade product! Thank you for voting with your dollars and contributing to the Fair Trade Premium. With those funds Covilli’s workers have completed 4 community projects and have another 3 in the works.
LABOR DAY HEAT WAVE IMPACT
An intense heat wave is coming over the Labor weekend and into Labor Day week. Temperatures will reach over 105 degrees in many growing regions including Salinas Valley and Bakersfield. The heat affects our food production, putting not only the plants and fruit at risk but the people harvesting our food.
FARM TOUR 2022: MAYWOOD FIG FARM
Bob Steinacher has been growing Figs at Maywood Farm since the late 80’s. With financial support of his family, Bob left his home in the Bay Area to set out and be a farmer. Land was affordable in Corning and the local farm advisor board was looking for someone to come in and grow figs. So, figs it was!
CALIFORNIA ESQUIRE MANGO
California mango season starts with the Esquire Mango. With a subtly sweet flavor, the Esquire is the first variety coming out of the short season in California's Salton Sea area!
CALIFORNIA BARTLETTS
The first of the locally grown California Bartletts are now coming out of the Sacramento and Stockton River Delta region where the hot days and the cool nights are needed to develop its sweet, juicy and delicious flavor.
MAIN CROP OF FIGS
The second crop of figs have the rich honey sweetness we associate with delicious figs. Figs love the hot days and warm nights and are grown mainly in the central valley around the Fresno/Madera area to up north of Sacramento in Corning.
NAM DOC MAI THAI DESSERT MANGO
Nam Doc Mai (translates to sweet nectar of the blossom) is a Thai Cultivar and Thailand’s best known dessert mango. One of the world’s most coveted mangos and the mango best used in Thailand’s Famous Dish-Mango with Sticky Rice.
MALLIKA INDIAN MANGO
Super sweet Mallika Indian Mangos have silky and creamy fiberless sweet flesh. Pale green skin turns bright yellow with light pinkish and yellow blush tones.
