LA GRANJITA ORGANICA “THE LITTLE ORGANIC FARM”

La Granjita or “The Little Organic Farm” is a small 2.5 acre farm run by Victor Cortez and Veronica Ceja in Hollister, CA. Victor and Veronica are from Michoacán, Mexico, a small town that is 100% dependent on agriculture production. After 25 years in Mexico, they immigrated to Gonzales, California to form their family and in search of more opportunities to improve their livelihoods. Here in California, their three children, Noe, Emmanuel, and Mariana, were born.

Victor has a lengthy thread of experience in the agriculture industry prior to starting on his own partnership with his wife. Their origin in the farming industry together started in the Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association (ALBA) in Salinas, CA, where they were taught to farm organically, sell, and structure themselves to become a sustainable grower, in 2013.

La Granjita’s selection started with cherry tomatoes and hot peppers (jalapeños, serrano, poblanos and Anaheim peppers) then ignited a forward-goal spark and motivated the couple to try more options. Victor implemented his creative innovation and excitement in his new land, into a diverse layout. Through much trial and error, the fruits of La Granjita led to additional items: their watermelon gherkins in 100% recyclable packaging (which make a lovely agua fresca!), shishitos, bell peppers, additional varietal hot peppers, and cape gooseberries.

La Granjita is now harvesting Watermelon Gherkins, Anaheim, Jalapeno, Serrano, Green Bell Peppers and Mixed Medley Cherry Tomatoes.
