More about the position….

The Transportation Manager position oversees the transportation team, supports the efficient and effective management of the day-to-day operations of the warehouse while working in conjunction with other departments to ensure excellent customer service is provided.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensures management of nightly operations of the warehouse teams, organization, work flow and efficiency; manage drivers, inbound, outbound teams consistently;
  • Proactively deals with employee relations; addresses employee issues timely, directly, and respectfully; partners with leadership and HR ass appropriate;
  • Identifies and resolves problems as they arise; solution oriented and objective approach;
  • Plans, monitors, assesses job performance of the team, recommends compensation actions while adhering to company policies and procedures;
  • Accomplishes warehouse human resources objectives by onboarding, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching and counseling; supports employees’ payroll and scheduling;
  • Ensures communication of job expectations to department team members; contributes to warehouse and overall company strategic plans and reviews;
  • Individual punctuality and regular and reliable attendance; responsible for team attendance; manages team attendance quickly, efficiently and consistently;
  • Ensures work is performed safely at all ties; drive a safety culture among team; recognize and coach safe behaviors on daily basis;
  • Oversee thorough pre-trip safety checks; assess returned trucks for damage and truck condition;
  • Analyzes traffic alerts to determine best delivery situations; manage routes when route delays occur or unexpected delivery situations; coordinate daily late/second deliveries;
  • Provides excellent customer service at every opportunity;
  • Organizes and secures all route related paperwork; manage driver trip logs, related reports, and route paperwork;
  • Interfaces with customer service office and warehouse supervisors regarding shorts, subs, and special instructions; partners with supervisors to make the best overall team decisions;
  • Communicates any route changes or special instructions to drivers, gather and e-mail routing report; monitor daily route timelines via Telogis, monitor drivers route return times;
  • Schedule and manage maintenance/Ryder systems;
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.

Position requirements include:

  • Minimum High School degree required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in Team Leadership, Agriculture Receiving, Cooling, Shipping and Warehousing required.
  • 2 – 3 years delivery driving experience, preferably with a fresh produce company.
  • Valid California Class A or B driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service ability.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a time pressured environment.
  • Ability to respond to feedback from others.
  • Ability to maintain respect and composure in stressful situations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Desire to support other team members.
  • High energy!
  • Desire to grow individually and to learn how to best support other team members.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
